5 Tips for Landing a 360 Shuv-It

There are so many amazing wakesurfing tricks you can learn behind one of the industry-leading Nautique boats. Whether you’re surfing behind a Super Air Nautique G23, G25 Nautique Paragon, Super Air Nautique G21, or the Super Air Nautique 230, Nautique makes the ride effortless. Buxton Marine – the best boat dealer for new and used Nautique boats in Lewisville – offers these tips on how to master the 360 Shuv-It:

1.    Start with the Right Wave

This one is easy! Pros who use the Nautique love the intensity of the wave that a Nautique creates, allowing for plenty of height and pop for perfecting your 360 Shuv-It (or 3-Shuv as it’s often called). If you don’t have the right wake, then you’re going to have to try a whole lot harder to nail it.

2.    Master the 180

This may seem basic, but if you haven’t mastered your 180 yet, then get that before you jump to learning a 360! Once you have the 180 Shuv-It down, practice doing it repeatedly, back and forth. The more you practice stringing 180s together, the easier it will be to land a 360. As you practice, hone in on speed and stability, as both of those factors are huge in mastering the trick.

3.    Ride All the Way Up the Wave

It’s important that you ride the wave to the top of the wake for maximum lift. Momentum is key with 360 Shuv-Its, so try to gain speed as you climb the wake. Also – be sure that chest stays up for stability and to prevent the front end of the board from sinking! The beautiful thing about used Nautique boats in Lewisville is that they have the ability to provide that perfect wake every time, allowing you to get the right height to hone your skills.

4.    Shove with Both Feet

As you begin the 3-Shuv, be sure to push off with both feet equally, using your back foot to shove the board back to begin the rotation. Uneven footing can cause the board to fly up or finish shy of the 360 degree rotation.

5.    Find Your Footing

While still in the air, catch the board with your feet and stabilize with bent legs as you set up for your next trick or just ride the waves on! Your goal is to land the 360 Shuv-It in the sweet spot of the wave, as it will help to balance the board.
