Spring Boating Checklist: It’s Time to Start Thinking about Summer

The days are warming up here in North Texas, and those beautiful, sunny days may have you itching to get out on the water in your beautiful Nautique! Now’s the time to begin the process of getting your boat ready for the lake life! Follow these tips on our Buxton Marine Spring Boating Checklist to ensure you’re ready for good times ahead as soon as the water warms! 

1. Get a Tune Up

Just like anything with a motor, boats need maintenance and TLC to continue running in their best condition. As part of your spring boating checklist, if you do nothing else, we encourage you to bring your boat into Buxton Marine in Lewisville, Texas for a service check. 2. Assess Life Jackets

Take an inventory of your life jackets and make sure you still have the right kinds to meet the needs of your passengers. Was there a new baby born this past year? Or a kid who has grown into a larger size life jacket? Make these life jacket adjustments before the season starts. 

3. Buy New Gear

4. Develop Your Float Plan

A float plan tells someone who is not on the lake with you what your itinerary for the day is and when you plan to return to land. While you obviously can’t supply a float plan now for every day out on the lake, go ahead and fill in pertinent info that will never change to use as a template throughout the summer. 

5. Set Goals

Have each member of your family begin thinking now about what they’d like to accomplish on the lake this summer as part of your spring boating checklist. Does your son want to learn a new wakeboard trick? Are you interested in learning to wakesurf? Set goals now and then work toward those goals throughout the summer.
