Tips & Tricks: Teach Your Child to Wakeboard in 4 Easy Steps
Trying to teach your child to wakeboard can be a difficult and frustrating process. But like anything, practice makes perfect, and Buxton Marine – the best boat dealer in Lewisville, Texas – is here with some tips on how to make the process a little simpler with these 4 steps: Step 1: Walk on the MoonOne of the first things children must understand when being introduced to watersports is to stay calm and relaxed through the whole process. Tell your child he or she is an astronaut and they are trying to gently glide through space or walk on the moon. Step 2: Curl Up in a BallWhen you teach your child to wakeboard, have them start by pretending he or she is a ball. Keep elbows and knees in, and then have the board float out in front of them. Don't let them drag limbs in the water loosely.Step 3: Don’t Stand Up Until Shorts are out of the WaterKids have a tendency to want to stand up very quickly once the boat begins to pull. Teach them to fight that urge, staying seated as long as possible or until their shorts – or entire legs – are out of the water. Then slowly rise into a standing position. Step 4: Smash a BugOnce standing, most children are able to naturally rotate the board with the nose pointing toward the boat. If this doesn’t happen naturally, tell your child to bear weight on their back heel, acting as though they are gently – but forcefully – smashing a bug with it. This will teach your child to wakeboard and rotate it appropriately. Want more tips on how to teach your child to wakeboard?
